This heartwarming documentary captures the thrilling journey of the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra on their 2017 Tour of Possibility to Peru, Argentina, and Uruguay. Comprised of talent extraordinaire, these young musicians hail from the Boston area and are between the ages of 12 and 18. Their masterful performances in some of the world’s finest concert halls are brilliantly executed before live audiences.
The focal point of the film is to show how the power of music education can transform lives through connection. Music is a universal language which can break down barriers and build bridges between all cultures. The story is told through the voices of BPYO members and enhanced by gripping concerts under the baton of Benjamin Zander. Three rising-star soloists are featured—InMo Yang (violin), Elmer Churampi (trumpet), and Carlos Aguilar (flute)—who round out the experience with moments of stunning virtuosity.
The mission statement of the BPYO is three-fold: studying music, performing in Boston, and taking it on the road to the world. Rehearsals are challenging, tours are rigorous, and the outreach opportunities change lives. Musicians are trained to make an impact on the world. Maestro Zander has the gift to inspire as he takes the collective intelligence of the orchestra and raises the music to new levels. The stunning footage brings to life all aspects of the tour experience in a very real and personal way.
